It’s not about Obama or Romney, it’s about America committing suicide by GIMME PIG

In talking about what could destroy America, Abraham Lincoln said, “If it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide.” Is it just possible that we are committing suicide by “GIMME PIG?”

In a recent column the Ole Seagull expressed his opinion relative to “Those who live their lives expecting rights without responsibility for their actions and a ‘free lunch’ paid for from the labors of others” and his perception of the impact that it is having on our country. Letters to the Editor of this paper have recently described this type of behavior in different ways, such as a person who “gets everything she can from the government, food stamps, medical… whatever they will hand her, but yet she can afford $30 a week for cigarettes.” Another writer, Thom Borchert, describes the “GIMME PIGS” type of behavior as those who say “GIMMIE my foods stamps, GIMMIE my welfare check, GIMME my free or low cost housing, GIMMIE free health care, GIMMIE my bank bailout…GIMMIE, GIMMIE, GIMME!”

Here in Branson everything is about “branding.” The Ole Seagull just has to believe the brand “GIMME PIG” describes the type of behavior he is referring to when he refers to “Those who live their lives expecting rights without responsibility for their actions and a ‘free lunch’ paid for from the labors of others.” In an Ole Seagull’s opinion, the “Obama Phone” incident described in this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAjNqIwYcdI, and transcribed below, is a manifestation of that type of behavior:

WOMAN: Obama!
REPORTER: You got an Obama phone?
WOMAN: (screaming) Yes! Everybody in Cleveland, low minorities, got Obama phone. Keep Obama in president, you know? He gave us a phone!
REPORTER: He gave you a phone?
WOMAN: He gonna do more!
REPORTER: How did he give you a phone?
WOMAN: You sign up. If you’re… If you on food stamps, you on Social Security, you got low income, you disability…
REPORTER: Okay, what’s wrong with Romney, again?
WOMAN: Romney, he sucks! Bad!
Now, there’s a logic for voting for a President if an Ole Seagull every heard One. How many “Obama Phones” are out there? With up to 230 free minutes per month? Whose paying for them? Whose paying nothing for them?

Rush Limbaugh, with whom an Ole Sea Gull agrees with more times than not, hit the nail on the head. The following paraphrase substitutes the words GIMME PIGS for the political term he actually used because the Ole Seagull believes it is more about behavior than political party:

“The GIMME PIGS are what is destroying this country, and the effort to coddle them and to take care of them and to continue keeping them in that position that they’re in of total dependence, [with] no opportunity at acquiring wealth or achievement. The rest of us have to pay for their crazy, stupid life choices. The rest of us have to see our wealth and income transferred and redistributed to people who’ve made rotten choices…

“You want to start talking about people not paying their fair share? Yeah, it’s the GIMME PIGS that’s not paying their fair share. It’s the 47% or whatever the number is that don’t pay income taxes who are not paying their fair share. It’s not the top 1%. It’s not the people working. It’s not people getting up every day and doing everything they can to make this country work. They are not the ones who are not paying their fair share! The GIMME PIGS are the people not paying their fair share: the 49%, 47% that are paying zilch, zero, nada; and they’re the ones that we’re told ought to get everything. They’re the one[s] who ought to get all the benefits.

“They’re the ones who ought to get all the transfers of wealth. Somehow, they’re in their circumstance because of the 1%. ‘The 1% stole everything those people used to have!’ Wrong. Those people are in the positions they’re in because they have made rotten life choices…”

As we go to the polls on November 6, the following quote from “Range Magazine,” attributed to the “the newspaper Prager Zeitung, Czech Republic,” seems appropriate. “The Republic can survive a Barack Obama. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.” To an Ole Seagull, this election is not as much about Obama versus Romney as it is the GIMME PIGs versus those who pay, one way or the other, for the benefits the GIMME PIGS believe they are entitled to as a matter of right.

A quote attributed to Winston Churchill says, “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.” The truth of Lincoln’s admonition will become apparent when the GIMME PIGS have drained the resources of those paying for their behavior to the point where everyone is wallowing around in the same trough.
